In a pioneering initiative for the urban energy transition, the Municipal Energy Optimisation Platform (POEM) is being implemented in the Municipality of Águeda, an innovative project that aims to transform the management of energy assets in cities.
Intelligent urban energy management
Municipalities manage a vast number of energy assets, including energy consumers, producers and storers, which makes integrated and effective management of these resources challenging. POEM is a response to this need, providing a single interface that integrates multiple sub-platforms dedicated to renewable energy production and storage, energy management in public buildings, public lighting, electric vehicle chargers and other sources of information.
Technology and innovation for sustainability
Through Artificial Intelligence models and algorithms, POEM will be able to identify, quantify and recommend energy optimisation decisions. These new functionalities have the potential to transform the way cities manage their energy transition, promoting more efficient and sustainable management towards carbon neutrality.
Strategic partnerships
Coordinated by BrightCity, with the participation of SONAE Sierra, NOS, INEGI and CCG, POEM and in close collaboration with the Municipality of Águeda, this partnership allows the platform to benefit from the urban intelligence solutions already implemented in this municipality, aligning with its decarbonisation and digitalisation strategy. The project has a total investment of around 3.4 million euros.
This project is funded by the PRR through the ATE Agenda.
