INEGI has released a position paper entitled ‘Decarbonising with what we already have: the potential of waste heat’, highlighting how heat wasted by transformers and other industrial sources can be converted into useful energy, helping to reduce emissions and costs. This approach, already established in several European countries, is now proving to be technically and economically viable.
In the context of the ATE Agenda, INEGI has developed a decision support tool that helps companies, network operators and municipalities identify opportunities for local recovery of waste heat, reinforcing that taking advantage of existing resources is a sustainable, strategic and economically advantageous solution.
