The ATE Laboratory Network was created to accelerate technological innovation by eliminating barriers between initial research and commercialization. It is an integrated ecosystem that unites R&D laboratories, SMEs, and industry to support the development of new products throughout their maturation cycle, from the initial stages to final industrialization.
Innovation and Business Acceleration
To strengthen the link between the business and scientific systems, support SMEs and startups, and foster the context of clusters, synergies, and ecosystems.
Innovation and acceleration programs
Laboratory Network
By combining infrastructure and multidisciplinary skills, the network reduces costs and development time, enabling companies to respond quickly to the challenges of the energy sector and transform complex ideas into viable and competitive commercial solutions.

What does this program consist of?
The Energy Transformers – Energy Transition Program brings together companies, SMEs, startups, and educational and research institutions to accelerate the implementation of solutions developed at ATE. It is a direct link between innovation and the market. Through workshops, mentoring, and networking, it supports participants in creating synergies, attracting investment, and forming strategic partnerships, including pilot projects and commercial agreements.
From the laboratory to the market
The program aims to:
• Helping partners get the most out of their products, processes, and services;
• Transforming ideas and technologies into market-ready solutions;
• To support progress towards development and commercialization goals, with estimated sales of 552,30 million euros.
Who can participate?
Partners of the ATE Agenda and other entities seeking solutions for the energy transition are welcome to participate. It's an opportunity to join a collaborative ecosystem and accelerate innovation in the energy sector.
This initiative is led by INESC-TEC and Beta-i, with the support of the ATE Association.
Open Innovation Program
What does this program consist of?
The ATE Open Innovation Program is an international initiative that aims to accelerate innovation and collaboration in the energy sector, promoting the co-creation of advanced solutions between startups, scale-ups, technology providers, and large companies.
Through this initiative, participants will face real challenges defined by large corporations and experts, validate and test solutions through pilot projects and proofs of concept, and collaborate with key players in the energy ecosystem in Portugal and Europe.
How does it work?
The program proposes challenges organized into six key areas: data interoperability, flexible charging, battery circularity, energy communities, smart logistics, and disruptive mobility.
Participants submit their solution or technology for evaluation, aligned with the defined challenges.
-The selected solutions go through phases of mentoring, engagement with industrial partners, and structuring of a pilot or proof of concept.
Who can participate?
Researchers, startups, scale-ups, and technology providers that have the following capabilities are eligible to apply:
– Validated prototypes or market-ready solutions;
– Strong alignment with the challenges defined by the initiative's partners;
– Collaborative mindset and adaptability to industry needs.
This initiative is led by INESC-TEC and Beta-i, with the support of the ATE Association.
