ISQ is developing FADO, a decision support tool to help industries reconvert their gas distribution infrastructures to accommodate the new Hydrogen/Natural Gas (H2/GN) blending mix.
A solution for the energy transition
The degradation of materials by hydrogen remains a technical challenge. This software will help identify and plan the necessary upgrades so that infrastructures can operate safely and efficiently with renewable gases, minimising risks and guaranteeing industries’ confidence in the new energy model.
Technology and digitalisation
The modules of this tool assess the various components of gas transport infrastructures, defining functional requirements and designing an intuitive user interface.
In addition, technical studies are underway to specify the conversion of industrial infrastructures for the use of hydrogen in thermal systems, such as kilns in the ceramics industry.
This project considers the application of digital methodologies to streamline decision-making and the management of critical infrastructures, optimising high investments in both the implementation and maintenance of industrial assets.
Demonstration in a real environment
To validate the effectiveness of FADO, a demonstration prototype will be carried out in an operational environment in Torres Vedras, which aims to promote a carbon-neutral society in the West region, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable energy transition.
Strategic partnership and investment
The project is led by ISQ, in collaboration with Smartenergy, and has a total investment of 1.5 million euros from the PRR, through ATE-Alliance for the Energy Transition.
