The digital transformation of the energy sector is contributing to the reduction of emissions, a more decentralized management of equipment, and more efficient use of data across the entire industry chain. In the case of the electrical system, this change is essential to extend the lifespan of network equipment and also to explore new business models. For this, it is increasingly important to create digital services that utilize data from various sources that work well interconnected, even across different sectors.
Therefore, INESC TEC created the platform “CLOUDIA4.EU”, a digital platform that uses cloud services and can be used by multiple organizations at the same time. It allows for the creation, testing, and operation of data analysis services in a simple manner.
The platform facilitates joint work between services and companies and helps to turn data into practical benefits. Furthermore, it was designed to be user-friendly, even for non-specialists, making it faster and simpler to leverage data, share it, and use it to develop new collaborative solutions.
The architecture of the platform has been developed – how it will be used and built, as well as the visual aspect, which is currently in the testing phase. The first functional version of the platform is already available online, but it still requires authorization from the team. Two main types of data processing have also been explored: one that reacts to real-time events and another that processes and organizes the data.
The demonstrable version of the platform was presented during the ATE Conference at the Super Bock Arena in Porto. This demonstration showcased the project’s advancements and allowed for discussions of the results with partners.
“The CLOUDIA4.eu platform, developed by INESC TEC, will enable the integration of cloud services and the creation of AI processing pipelines so that companies that adopt it can extract value from their data, or benefit from the interoperable and data-sharing environment. It will accelerate developments and equip the data science teams of the entities with the agility for experimentation and testing. When ready, it allows for the maintenance of service operations in a productive environment.” – Fábio Coelho, INESC TEC
